Q: Tell us more about The Peachy Peony?

A: “The Peachy Peony is a specialised décor company. What that means is that we make, sell and/or hire out detailed décor like backdrops, photo props, cute ideas and much more for any occasion. We like to be innovative and so with every client’s requirements we try to be different and make their ideas come to life”.

 

Q: What was the inspiration behind the business and when was it created?

A: “I started with backdrops in 2015, because I am so over the find-anywhere-to-take-photos photos couples have. No be different! Make it fun! It doesn’t stop there, we do not only make specialized décor items for weddings but also for baby showers, Christenings, baby rooms, couple shoots, new-born shoots etc. Have an idea? Contact us!”

Q: Why “The Peachy Peony”?

A: “Since I got married in 2012 I have been over-the-top-in-love with Peonies! They are so big, soft and beautiful. I therefore just knew that my name had to incorporate these wonderful pretty flowers. Peachy, because we do think our products are peachy.”

 

Q: Tell us more about the team behind the product?

A: “I am the designer as well as the conceptualiser and then there is my husband (who mostly supports my ideas) as the muscle-man. Everything that I can’t do (muscle-wise) he can definitely do, and then if he can’t help, my awesome dad replaces muscle-man, with I-can-do-it-man”.

 

Q: What are your plans and goals for the future?

A: “To make all those ugly walls disappear into wow features and turn those boring group photos into stunning detailed shots. We do not only hire out backdrops, but also sell backdrops for baby rooms, or any empty wall in your house that you would like to be creative with”.

 

Q: How will your clients benefit from your services / products?

A: “They will have the chance to showcase the detail, planning and effort that they have put into their wedding, into their photos as well. Your photos are the only keepsake that you have of that amazing day, so make it count”.

 

Q: What makes your company unique of different from other similar institutions in the industry?

A: “So far there has not been anyone else that specialises in photo backdrops so that makes us unique and then there is also our peachy attitude to bring our client’s thoughts / dreams to life”.

 

Q: If you could give brides-to-be one piece of advice about decorating empty spaces, what would it be and why?

A: “That you do not have to settle for another venue, because the one you loved had an element which you didn’t like. Hire one of our backdrops to eliminate this area and turn it into a space you love.

I have to show an example, my friend got married and did not like the naked statue that stood in front of the place that the ceremony was going to be held at, this lady was not ugly but oh so inappropriate for your pastor to stand in front of, so we covered it with this chalkboard backdrop. She later used this chalkboard backdrop as her backdrop for her photo booth”.

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE BUSINESS?

“I have always had a passion for fashion. Clothing just speaks to me. We all love to dress up, I think this starts at a very young age. The wedding day is one of the most important days in any woman’s life, and I am lucky enough to get to live this special occasion over and over through my brides. There is no bigger honour than being a part of such a momentous occasion in somebody’s life, and no greater joy than seeing a bride glow after she has found her dream dress. There was a definite need for a bridal and evening wear boutique in the Vaal Triangle that offers a diversity of dresses for ladies to choose from. Why should the brides from this area always have to drive to Johannesburg or Pretoria to find high-end bridal gowns? In November 2013, I started Bella Vestito and I have not looked back since. This was a life changing undertaking for me, and I would never want to do anything else again. My business is truly my passion.”

 

WHY “BELLA VESTITO”?

“I wanted something different. Something striking. There are so many bridal boutiques in South Africa, and most of them have English or Afrikaans names that has something to do with a certain type of material. I decided to go for Italian. Bella Vestito means “Beautiful Dress”, which is exactly what we offer our clients.”

“I am the owner, Liza de Jager. I am a 32 years old, working mommy, with an always supportive amazing husband of almost four years. My right-hand, is the very talented wonderful shop manager, Lenel Scrooby. Not only is she an amazing fashion designer, but she is also a superb artist and singer. She is truly a multi- talented young lady, who is just as passionate about fashion as I am.”

 

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AND GOALS FOR THE FUTURE?

“We want to ultimately be a one-stop-shop for all occasions. In the near future we would like to expand into offering gentlemen suits and tuxes as well. We already offer wedding packages that encompasses most of a bride’s needs for the big day, but we would like to offer it all, from A-Z, from stationary to the entire wedding party’s attire. The reason behind our packages is to take the workload away from our clients, while saving them thousands in the process. I am a big dreamer, and therefore I see Bella Vestito moving into a space ten times the size we currently have, and with hard work, dedication, passion and drive, I have no doubt that this is exactly what we will do.”

“Please remember that this is your daughter’s big day. She needs your love and support. Let her take the lead in selecting everything she wants for the wedding, and only give advice when she asks for it. It can be very overwhelming for a bride ifother parties have too many opinions or try to take over. Let your princess have her fairy-tale the way she wants it. Just be there for her…”

’n Stukkie Karoo in die Vaaldriehoek

Karoosie is ’n splinternuwe blommebesigheid in die Vaaldriehoek en gaan beslis die troubedryf oorneem in die toekoms. Hulle rangskikkings is vars, kreatief en absoluut asemrowend.

Sonja Oosthuizen het in die troubedryf groot geword en het jare se ondervinding in byna elke aspek daarvan. Sy het onlangs besluit om ’n splinternuwe blommebesigheid in die Vaaldriehoek te vestig en ons het bietjie meer gaan uitvind oor Karoosie.

WIE IS KAROOSIE EN WAARIN SPESIALISEER JULLE?

“Bruide en groot wit rokke is al van kindsbeen af deel van my lewe. My ma het trourokke gemaak en blomme, dekor en spyseniering vir troues gedoen. Sy het ook ’n geruime tyd lank vir Werner Dey in Parys gewerk. Ek dink dit was net natuurlik dat bruide en troues my gefassineer het. Ek wou graag van my universiteitsdae af leer blomme doen. Maar in Potchefstroom was daar nie regtig iemand wat klasse aangebied het nie. Ek het maar die heeltyd rond gevra by die plaaslike bloemiste. Op ’n dag het ’n deur oopgegaan. ’n Bloemis het my aangestel om eers net na die winkel om te sien wanneer hy mark toe gaan. Ek moes die winkel oppas, skoonmaak en bestellings neem. Na ’n tydjie het hy my begin leer, eers net die basiese bosse blomme pak, en toe later kleiner rangskikkings ensovoorts. Vandaar het ek my eie besigheid begin, Belle Fleuri, van die huis af begin. Na ’n rukkie het ons ’n perseel gekry waarvandaan ons die blomme, verhurings en trourokke behartig het. Na 3 jaar, het ons toe ’n venue buitekant Potchefstroom gekoop met die naam Around the World. Ek was verantwoordelik vir al die dekor, blomme en koördinering. Ons het ook self die spyseniering gedoen, maar moes ongelukkig verkoop weens my ma se mediese beserings. Ons het toe almal Vanderbijlpark toe getrek. Ek het vir so ’n jaar skool gegee, waarna ek besluit het my passie en liefde lê by blomme doen. Ek wil partytjies hou soos Mrs Dalloway in Virginia Woolf se bekende roman. Ek spesialiseer in blomme vir funksies en troues. Ek help ook graag met die dekor en koördinering en bak ook lekker kolwyntjies.”

WANNEER HET JY KAROOSIE BEGIN EN WAT WAS DIE INSPIRASIE DAAR AGTER?

“My inspirasie… die mooi dinge in die lewe, die kleure om my, daai “magic” wat met ’n troue in die lug is… ’n Blom kan net mooi wees, daar is niks leliks in hom/haar nie. Blomme verskaf oneindige plesier, nie net vir my wat daarmee werk nie, maar ook vir die persoon wat dit ontvang. Die manier wat ’n kliënt of bruid se gesig ophelder as hulle hou van wat hulle sien. Die mooi dinge in die lewe… Die Here wat alles so mooi maak, ten spyte van wat in die wêreld aangaan. Die liefde. Parys in Frankryk. Karoosie sal nou amptelik oop wees vanaf 1 Julie 2015. Ons is besig om ’n perseel in Vanderbijlpark te koop, wat ons wil omskep in ’n klein venue (40 gaste maksimum) wat sal spesialiseer in kombuistees en ooievaarspartytjies. Ek gaan ook ’n studio inrig waar ek met my blomme gaan besig wees. Tot tyd en wyl gaan ek van my huis af werk, want mooi blomme kan enige plek gedoen word. Ek gaan ook later Karoosie uitbrei om te spesialiseer in troumeublement en -dekor.”

HOEKOM DIE NAAM KAROOSIE?

“Ek en my man is bitter lief vir die Karoo. Dit is ons hartsplek waarheen ons gaan om net weer die batterye te herlaai, rustig te word en die wonder van God se handewerk te sien. Ons het ons hart verloor in die Groenfonteinvallei aan die voet van die Swartberge tussen Oudtshoorn en Calitzdorp. Ons is ook in Oktober daar, tussen die Swartberge getroud, tydens ’n baie klein en intieme troue met die lekkerste kos. Ons wil graag eendag in die Karoo gaan bly, veral Groenfontein. Maar totdat dit gebeur, keer niks ons om ’n stukkie van die Karoo in die Vaaldriehoek oop te maak nie.”

VERTEL ONS MEER OOR DIE SPAN AGTER KAROOSIE?

“Ek glo aan persoonlike diens, op hierdie stadium is dit net ek, so ek doen self jou blomme. Ek het wel ’n goeie ondersteuningspan in die vorm van my man, en my pa, ma en sussie. Hulle laai op, laai af, ry rond en help met die kleinste dingetjies.”

WAT IS JOU PLANNE VIR DIE TOEKOMS?

“Ek sal graag wil sien dat Karoosie ’n huishoudelike naam word in die Vaaldriehoek se troubedryf. Ek sien daarna uit om die studio en venue oop te maak en net weer mooi partytjies te hou, en troues mooi te maak!”

HOEKOM MOET KLIËNTE KAROOSIE KIES?

“Kliënte en bruide sal ’n persoonlike diens ontvang, ek glo nie daaraan om te veel werk in te vat vir ’n naweek nie. Ek wil nie daardie persoonlike touch verloor nie. Ek sal hulle bystaan met raad en daad, asof dit weer my eie troue is. Ek glo daaraan, dat wanneer ’n bruid wegstap na haar troue, moet sy voel dat sy meer gekry het as waarvoor sy gehoop, gedroom en betaal het.”

WAT MAAK JOU BESIGHEID ANDERS?

“My passie en my liefde vir dit wat ek doen.”

AS JY VIR TOEKOMSTIGE BRUIDE RAAD KAN GEE, WAT SAL DIT WEES?

“Moet jouself nie te veel bekommer oor wat in die mode is nie, dit is jou dag, en jy gaan dit net eenmaal doen, so doen wat jou hart begeer. Jy moet gemaklik voel met jou bloemis. Jy moet hom/haar kan vertrou dat hulle vir jou die beste diens en blomme sal lewer – onthou dit is hulle werk, hulle ken blomme en tegnieke. Kry soveel moontlik idees, die internet wemel daarvan, ek is self ’n Pinterest-baba. Dit sal jou bloemis ’n beter idee gee van die tipe bruid wat jy is en wat jy in gedagte het. Gebruik blomme wat in seisoen is, want dit is beter vir ons plaaslike industrie en ook vir jou begroting. Wees versigtig om nie verlief te raak op blomme wat slegs oorsee beskikbaar is nie. Dit is ook baie belangrik om jou bloemis in te lig oor jou begroting. Sodat sy/hy sover menslik moontlik daarbinne sal bly, om dinge vir julle as paartjie te vergemaklik. En as jou bloemis met die blomme praat, dan weet jy net dis die regte keuse. Ek doen dit met myne – hulle moet soos sterre skitter by ’n troue! Onthou – ’n mens se handewerk praat altyd vir jou waar jy nie self kan nie.”

WATTER TIPE BLOMME EN RANGSKIKKING IS TANS GEWILD?

“Ons beweeg tans weg van die stywe rangskikkings en die een-blommetjie-per-bottel-styl. Rangskikkings is losser en lyk asof dit nou net in die tuin gepluk is. Dit het ook meer groenigheid. Koraal en blush bly gewild, maar met ’n helderder aksentkleur hier en daar.

Pantone is ’n gewilde kleur vir 2015 en Marsala begin ook nou kop uitsteek. Maar weereens, is dit jou dag, so kies en doen waaroor jy droom.”

WAT IS JOU MOTTO?

“Ek wil graag vir bruide en kliënte die beste diens gee wat ek kan. Hulle moet na die tyd voel dat hulle meer gekry het, as waarvoor hulle betaal of voor gehoop het. Om die wêreld ’n mooier plek te maak, een blommetjie op ’n slag.”

2. Be a buffer
If your mom is calling your fiancé every hour to talk about the wedding, you run the risk of major family conflict, with you stuck in the middle. Your mission: Keep the peace. Call your mom and let her know that while you appreciate her interest and excitement, it’s your wedding and she needs to give you two some planning space.

3. Don’t add insult
Your fiancé may complain about her mom who’s being a control freak, or about her uncle who wants to bring his new girlfriend, or her cousin who wants to bring all four of her kids. Don’t join in on the family bashing. Hear her out, agree with her, but don’t take this opportunity to tell her the things about her family that annoys you. Her bad mood will pass, but your careless comments may stick.

A love that will last forever

NeelsNeels and Louise Coertze tied the knot at the beautiful Casa Grande Lodge in Brits and the day turned out to be perfect – just like the love that these two individuals share. Snap-Ease was there to capture the love, friendship and fun of this special event.

Neels and Louise’s wedding day was a celebration of love, family and friendship. A backdrop of country style tables, red and silver décor and colourful balloons created a fun and stylish atmosphere and a feeling of excitement hung in the air as guests started to arrive.

Music and unique quirks were used to add some fun and personality to the formalities, but when the couple said their: I do’s, there wasn’t a dry eye in the chapel. After the ceremony a bunch of red and white balloons were released by the couple and their guests as a symbol of the beauty, love and happiness of the day.

While guests waited for the couple to return from their photo session, they had some photo action of their own in the Snap-Ease Photo Booth and enjoyed some delicious cocktails and snacks. Speeches, music videos, a candle ceremony, good food and a few giggles formed part of the reception… and after the formalities were taken care of, guests had the opportunity to enjoy some delicious soft serve ice cream.

Barend from BZN Productions was the videographer of the day and recorded some very special wedding wishes from guests to include in the video.

It was a beautiful day, which will be remembered by guests for years to come… with a Snap-Ease photo strip as a constant reminder.

A stylish premiere for Leading Lady

Leading ladyThe South African Premiere of Leading Lady was a glamorous event, filled with good food and wine, a star studded guest list, fun activities and the screening of an amazing film.

Ster-Kinekor Cedar Square hosted the South African Premiere of Dark Matter Studios’ brand new film, Leading Lady, on the evening of November 13th 2014. Sponsors and service providers were there early to set up, decorate and pack goodie bags to ensure that everything was ready for this big evening, which everyone had been looking forward to for months.

Star Burst Promotions’ Alishia van Deventer and Gizela Arndts were the organizers behind this glamorous event and the function was a huge success. Boer & Brit supplied the drinks throughout the evening, while Maroela Media and BELLA Magazine (the media sponsors) were on the red carpet doing interviews for their social network platforms.

The guest list included local talent and cast, Brümilda van Rensburg, Bok van Blerk, Jana Strydom, Carien Botha and many more, as well as the international star, Gil Bellows (best known for his roles in The Shawshank Redemption, Ally McBeal and The Agency) who is also a cast member. Other well-known celebrities on the red carpet included the likes of Bouwer Bosch, Leandie du Randt, Hanna Grobler, Tobie Cronje, Je-ani Swiegelaar, Sandra Vaughn, Corine du Toit, Sonja Herholdt, Ivan Zimmerman, Andre Stolz, Llewellyn Greeff, Henk Pretorius, Matthew Mole, Altus Theart, Zetske van Pletzen, Ciske Kruger, Quanita Adams, Sarahann Doherty, Nadia Valvekens, Nadia Beukes and many more.

The highlight of the evening was the screening of the movie that South Africa has been talking about for months. Leading Lady tells the story of an aspiring British actress, Jodi Rutherford, who decides to travel to Brandfort in South Africa to prepare for a role, as an Afrikaans War heroin, that she wants to portray in a big up and coming film. Here she meets Kobus Willemse and his family and persuades them to let her live with them for a couple of weeks in exchange for her participation in their local ‘konsert’. She quickly learns that there is more to Kobus than his rugged exterior and that the things she once believed would make her happy, were not meant to be in the end. It is a charming and humorous love story, filled with important lessons that will most definitely capture the hearts of audiences here and across the world.

An evening to remember

Klip River Country Estate

Klip River Country Estate’s first annual Couple’s Evening was held on September 13th 2014 and was not only an evening of romance and love… but also one that couples will never forget.

Klip River Country Estate hosted its first annual Couples Evening as part of Intiem magazine’s Marriage Week for 2014. The tables were set in red and white with some candle light to create a romantic atmosphere. Loving couples were chatting and laughing excitedly while waiting for the evening to start.

Ivy and Alan Sutton were the guest speakers for this special event and they gave wonderful advice on how you can turn an ordinary marriage into an awesome marriage. Ivy’s vision has always been to make every woman an “Awesome woman of God.” She is known for her challenging and humorous style of addressing real-life issues such as building friendships, enhancing marriages and developing character. She has been invited to speak at women’s conferences, camps, breakfasts, special occasions (such as the Mrs. South Africa pageant for the last three years), the Rotary International Congress and various other corporate events. Ivy and Alan have been married for 33 years and have three wonderful children.

A lovely buffet was served afterward and couples also had the opportunity to make some special memories in our photo booth… It was truly a magical evening and Snap-Ease is proud to have been a part of it. We hope that someday we will run into these couples again and that their marriages will grow even stronger as the years pass.

A Carnival for Mediclinic’s Staff

Medical personnel often have a very serious… and sometimes even sad job. That is why Mediclinic Vereeniging decided to treat their admin staff to a day of fun. We were there to help them relax and enjoy themselves.

Three Rivers Lodge and Villa in Vereeniging was transformed into a colourful carnival on the morning of 3 September 2014, creating the perfect setting for the fun and relaxation that was going to take place later in the day.

Everyone at Three Rivers Lodge were very friendly and helpful and it was clear that they are well organised and comfortable with any crisis and function that comes their way.

Bright colours, candyfloss, sweets, hotdogs, cold drinks and gifts were displayed in a carnival like setup – with our photo booth welcoming guests at the entrance… ready for them to arrive and grab-a-prop-and-strike-a-pose.

Staff arrived in three sessions throughout the day and we still cannot decide which session enjoyed the function and the photo booth most. It was clear that they are all good friends as they wanted to make special memories together where possible – and we had up to seven people in the booth at once, which is a record!

It was a great privilege to be part of such a beautiful day. We enjoyed the function as much as the fun loving staff at Mediclinic Vereeniging and hope that we will meet again soon to strike-a-pose and make memories that will last forever.
